Stevens

Musical Director

Jen Stevens is an award winning songwriter and live performer based in North East England. Jen was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, started learning piano at age 4, and went on to study Jazz, Commercial and Popular Music at Sunderland University. Following a few career changes, including working in piano sales, as a theatre technician, and lecturing at several North East colleges and Universities, she has embarked on a successful career as a composer, songwriter, choir leader, voice coach and musical director.

MD, pianist and vocalist - Joe McElderry (2022/23); MD - North East Adult Pantomime (Sinderella 2023); Composer & MD - Pursuers of the Future (Sunderland Firestation, 2022); MD, pianist & vocalist - Less is More Productions (Spring Awakening 2022, 4 Girls & a Piano 2022, A Winter’s Tail 2021); MD - AJ Productions (Jack & the Beanstalk, Wizard of Oz and Wiz-Hard of Oz, Hartlepool, 2022); AMD - Customs House Theatre (Snow White 2019, The House is Yours 2021, Rapunzel 2021, Robin Hood 2022); MD - Westovians Theatre Society (Robinson Crusoe 2021, Robin Hood & the Babes in the Wood 2022).

 

Jen has composed music for radio, theatre, film and TV, as well as working as a session singer and pianist for many artists’ recordings.

 

Studio releases include: We Do It Right (iTunes #1 - Jen Stevens 2021), Lost Dialects (in association with the National Centre for the Written Word 2021), Little One (Jen Stevens 2017), Camera Obscura (Jen Stevens & the Hiccups 2015).

 

When she’s not directing, coaching or performing, Jen works alongside several Mental Health charities, runs a community choir (South Shields Serenity Singers) focussed on using singing as a means to improve Mental Health, and likes gardening, coffee, cake, dogs, and long walks on the beach.

 

Jen is looking forward to joining the team at ‘Astravaganza Entertainment’ as Musical Director.
