John
Hudson
Musical Director
Starting work at the age of 14, John has worked professionally as a Musical Director, vocal coach and musician in a variety of theatres and bands and has played for celebrities such as Ronan Keating and Robbie Williams.
Alongside his “live” work, John has also gained valuable experience in the recording
industry, working with top musicians and producers. He has composed and recorded
original music for a variety of educational and promotional films.
Drawing on his experience of the music business John established a home recording
studio in 1998, and formed “John Hudson Music Productions Ltd” in 2000. He now runs
“Starset Theatre” with his wife and business partner, Elissa. Under John’s guidance,
students have gone on to win competitions, locally and nationally; gain places at
performing arts colleges either post-GCSE or at 18 for professional training; appear on
television; work in local theatre (both amateur and professional) and with professional
bands.
In recent years John has been Musical Director for a wide range of shows both with his
own company and for other musical theatre groups, including Nativity the Musical, Les
Miserables, Hairspray, Barnum, Legally Blonde, Spamalot, 9 to 5, Calendar Girls and The Addams Family. His forthcoming shows include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Drowsy Chaperone, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Dolly Mixtures.
John has worked with Liam Glendinning and Astravaganza Entertainment several times
including “Oliver”, “Priscilla Queen Of The Desert” and “The Wizard of Oz” and is looking forward to taking the Musical Direction reigns for “Joseph” and collaborating with Jen Stevens for "Annie".
